The pictures below don't even do the house justice. It was so awful. The carpets were disgusting! Animals had definately done their business on the carpets, spills everywhere...it was just horrible. The paint/wall paper was also awful. It's an old house so things were falling apart, closet doors missing, etc. Needless to say, I was not happy. At all.
We had an inspection done on the house and after that I said "sorry, no can do." I definately didn't want this house. The seller was already going to give us several thousand dollars for fix ups, but after I said no, they came back with a much larger amount to give us for fixing it up, and after careful consideration I felt like with a little paint, new carpet, and some all around TLC, we could make it work. So we accepted.
Now we are moving. The house isn't perfect by any means. There is still a lot of work that could be done, but it's improved so much. I am very sad to be leaving my home and ironically, I cried when we decided to move. But I'm very proud of it, so here are the before and after pictures. (One note, some of the stuff in the pictures isn't mine. our realtor had a decorator come in and "stage" my house and she brought some stuff of her own. A good portion of it, and all the big furniture is mine.)
notice the nasty carpet and lovely paint. oh, and don't forget the shutters in the archways.

Aahhh....much better.

Again, carpet!!

I'm pretty sure that microwave was one of the first ones ever made!!

And my favorite room, before and after. The wallpaper on bottom was actually fuzzy and the top was shimmery. Yikes!

Now, it's my favorite room!

this room was the worst "animal business" room. It smelled horrible.

Now it's a cute guest room.

I don't even know what to call that color. The mirrored shower door was also not my favorite.

I went a little crazy with the green color, but no regrets. I've enjoyed it.

I LOVE my master bedroom. It is big like Chris said. So they got something right I guess.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are moving. We're excited though to have our kids go visit Auntie Jenn and cousins on the ranch. (Oh and I guess that one guy in the whole world who actually likes that loser Kobe Bryant).
Jenn, I can't believe you guys are moving. Was this something you were thinking about doing for a long time? Are you staying in the area? Is chris changing jobs????
p.s. GREAT JOB WITH THE HOUSE!!!!
I'm sorry I totally forgot to wish you a happy anniversary when we talked on Friday. The house does look awsome and I LOVE your dining room.
Looks amazing! I need Medra to come decorate our new house. It will sell quick.
Jenn your house is so cute...Someday I will start to actually decorate...The only room in my house decorated is my scrapbook room...How sad :)
That's wierd...I posted you a comment and it didn't do it. Anyway, we'll try again! I just said that these pictures are something you would see on HGTV! That's it I am officially hiring you to come to my house and work some magic! I love what you have done!
Can we just discuss the name "Medra" for a second? It sounds like the name of some cheap actor's agent who smokes 7 packs a day wha has orange hair and wrinkles the depth of the Grand Canyon.
The house looks awesome! You really did a great job fixing it up. I always knew you had style!
By the way, where are you guys moving to?
